The First
I have often thought about blogging my life. When blogs first originated, not long after
the internet, I was vehemently opposed them. At the time, many were written by
dullards who had little to say beyond, "I fed my cat today," and were a waste of time
to read much less write. Not wanting to be another dullard writing things people didn't care
about, I actively avoided all blogs like you do the sniffling coworker who clearly
should have stayed at home.
Today, however, years later, the blog sphere has greatly matured. It has finally
reached a point where the world's online blogopedia of information is
more refined and less cluttered. I'd like to thank Facebook and Twitter for helping clean up the blog garbage.
These services, and others like them, have provided a forum for those with the desire to
share their inane lives filled with pet feeding activities. Thus, blogs these days maintain a higher
concentration of authors with interesting lives, unique perspectives, and the ability to write quality content.
Like I said, I've often thought about blogging my life. I've certainly lead an interesting
one. Every time I'm told by someone that they live vicariously through me, I am re-energized to venture
out and push my boundaries.
I could go on and on
listing things I've already done, witnessed, and learned from over the last 37 years,
but instead, I'll start with now. All of those experiences will crop up future posts
because they have shaped who I am and how I perceive and interact with my world, but for now,
I'll focus on the present.
So, February 21st, 2013, this is where I start, like a snap shop in time:
- I'm a little over one year into living in Manhattan on the border of Hell's Kitchen and the Upper West Side.
- I got a job offer yesterday that includes a promotion, so don't expect to be
unemployed much longer.
- I'm learning Italian Opera at Julliard School of Music in addition to private lessons and dream to be
on stage someday.
- I'm dating an amazing woman who is an attorney, extraordinarily hot, and has a vocabulary
equaled only by that of my father's.
- I'm going to race my mountain bikes again this year on a team sponsored by Sid's Bike Shop.
- I board game to the point that I'm writing an online version of Agricola in my free time.
Sounds like a charmed life, right? Well, it has been a roller coaster, especially in the last year.
There have been a lot of ups and downs and I'm sure there are more coming.
With that, I will start my blog. I'll try to be insightful. I'll try to be entertaining. I'll try to
be nice. In the end, I'll try to blog content worthy of today's blog standards.
So, stay tuned, but for now, I have to go feed Kashyyyk.
